I don't know if admitting I went to a hardware store for a duplicate will get me flamed in this group;-) I would like to change the cylinder, it is a separate unit, (versus having the cylinder in the handle). I'm also concerned about security of the door after reading some posts. I don't need to look to see if the handle can be 'snapped' off or unscrewed.

I think some red (thermal removal) Locktite on the threads would keep it from being removed. I don't need 'Ft. Knox' security, but probably better than the stock garage door.

I've figured out how to solve my issue (can't get a proper key cut) and maybe this will help someone else in the future. I found that the Hillman number 68 blank key (Schlage) is the right key to use. It's just a hair bit too long. Buy the blank without having them cut it. Take it home and grind off the end to match the length of your Clopay key. Then take it back to the store and have them cut it.
